For example, if I run a grep query and get a list of results with Konsole maximised and then shrink the screen to half its width, Konsole does not reflow the text to fit half the screen. Instead, the portion of text overflowing the screen is simply cut off. Similarly, if I start Konsole to a quarter of the screen, run a query, and then maximise the screen, the text will only run till half of the screens width and will not use all the space available on the screen. On the other hand, gnome-terminal seems to have fixed this problem recently as the text in terminal reflows when the terminal window is resized. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Type a command or a string which exceeds the width of the terminal window such that text flows to the next line when the window is snapped to half the screen or even smaller 2. Resize the terminal window by maximising it 3. Observe the utilisation of space in the resized window
This is a nice feature that gnome-terminal >= 3 has. I believe Terminology (from Enlightenment) also has it. This is a very nice feature to have once you are used to it.
This has been asked for years - not a high priority ATM - I would look at patches
