Description tal00r 2001-11-21 17:35:43 UTC
(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: konqueror
Version: 2.2.1 (using KDE 2.2.1 )
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: Debian Packages
Compiler: Not Specified
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: debian/unstable

Konqueror supports the XDND protocol but
not the related XDS one. Thus I can drag
a directory onto Archive for example but
dragging the resulting .tgz file back into
konqueror gives a very odd result: it asks for a name for the archive and then a 1 byte file is created!
konqueror should either support the protocol or fail gracefully (eg with an error message).

Protocol:
http://www.newplanetsoftware.com/xds/

Archive application:
http://rox.sourceforge.net/archive.php3

Note that Edit does not show this problem. Presumably konq accepts its offer of text/plain in preference to XdndDirectSave0. It still asks for the name however.
Thanks

As of today, GIMP supports this protocol (in the HEAD branch). It would be nice
if konqueror would implement the other side of the protocol so that GIMP users
could save images by dragging them to the KDE desktop or to konqueror folders.
