(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: konsole Version: 2.2.1 (using KDE 2.2.1 ) Severity: normal Installed from: Compiled From Sources Compiler: Not Specified OS: Not Specified OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified Hi trying out some irc clients I finally found irssi which I is a quite fine console program using the ncurses library. Using the backspace key (correcting typos) causes problems only in irssi it normally works without any problems. Because I cannot really describe the bug with words I am going to give you an example: I type the text "Hello this is a test message" and then press the backspace key and hold it until it beeps. Now konsole does not erase all characters there are still some left: "llo th i e t e". This happens all the time and is quite annoying when you try to correct typos and you don't know which characters are really there and which ones konsole displays although they have been deleted :) With gnome terminal and rxvt all is fine. I hope these descriptions can help in finding and eliminating the bug. If I can be of any further assistance feel free to mail me. Greetings Bastian Voigt (Submitted via bugs.kde.org)
Cannot reproduce this with 2.2.2: Do you use anti-aliasing and which font?
Cannot help you without feedback.
RedHat 7.1 (fully patched) Kernel 2.4.17 XFree86 4.1.0 KDE 3.0 Konsole 1.1 I too am experiencing this same problem. I am using an ncurses-based chat client with a separated input line. In response to sufficient amounts of _any_ position modifying input (erase ^h werase ^w or arrow keys) the input line display becomes corrupted. Ordering a display refresh (^l) corrects the problem and resets the input line but further editing only makes it worse. The client software I am using is tlily-2.3 ( http://www.tlily.org/ ) and I would be glad to get you started with a test account to replicate this problem. This problem does not occur under xterm or gnome-terminal. thanks and good luck! christian
