Description ghk 2001-10-17 10:01:12 UTC
(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: khtml
Version: KDE 2.2.1
Severity: normal
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
Compiler: Not Specified
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified

The HTML entity () is used to suggest to the browser where a (long) word should be broken if the text wraps to another line.

Konqueror always renders as a hyphen even when the word doesn't wrap. In addition Konqueror never wraps at soft hyphens only at word boundaries.

The preferred solution would be for Konqueror to fully understand and render it invisible when the word doesn't wrap and as a hyphen when the word does wrap.

A simpler solution would be to never wrap at (like today) but always render the soft hyphen as invisible. Always rendering as a hyphen is just plain wrong always hiding it is a bit better.

Regards
 Gaute Hvoslef Kvalnes
