If KLineEdit has squeezed text enabled, but the widget has still zero width, KLineEdit::setSqueezedText() can go into an endless loop trying to remove letters from the string (line 622 - 627 of the git version). This endless loop causes for example digikam 3.5.0 on a Mac to freeze at startup, when the widget is not yet mapped and therefore still has zero width. However, this problem is not digikam specific, it can be reproduced by any code creating a zero width KLineEdit. Adding an additional check for (letters > 0) fixes the problem. There is a similar loop just above, where a check for not overrunning the end of the string might be safe to add as well, although I have not encountered an overrun there.
