Description JayJay 2013-03-31 18:24:41 UTC
After picking a color from image using CTRL+click , if I try to change only Hue in any of the selectors, then the small circle which shows selected color shifts diagonally. This happens only after picking color and not if color is selected in the selector and then the Hue is changed.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Pick a color from image using CTRL+click
2. Try to change Hue in Advanced Color Selector or pop-up
3.
Actual Results:
Small circle shifts diagonally, changing Val and Sat

Expected Results:
Val and Sat should not change, only Hue. The circle should stay in place.

Hi, thank you for your report.
I can confirm this in krita 2.7-alpha, it seems to be related to color space.

What I did was
1. Open an image in RGB, 8bit, RGB linear
2. Pick a color with Ctrl+Click
3. Use color wheel to adjust hue (using palette).
4. Value and sat are respected.

To trigger the behavior I had to create a new document

1. Create CMYK document, 8bit
2. Paint normally. Which creates tones inside the color space.
3. Ctrl+click selects color without shifting.
4. Adjust hue ring, using any color selection, will produce a color shift.
This is specially notorious on very bright colors.

Color wheels seem to be defined and created using RGB space, so when selecting a color in the ring that does not exist in the color space of the image it seems the program will automatically adjust to a color inside the space.

Using specific color selection docker does not trigger this behavior. even if using it with another space color selection.

Thanks vanyossi,
Interesting cuz for me it shifts in any colorspace, RGB, Lab and even when the selector is 8 or 16 bit and in document space or any other space.
The bug is confirmed now so it will be looked into.

Any progress on this bug? I get the shifting but not so dramatic Paul

The bug seems to be related to this one https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=309998

Hi guys!

Here is my test with the upper slider. It should change only Lightness. But it also changes Hue.

In an RGB colorspace image, The hue shifts in the outer ring when I adjust value and saturation in the triangular part of the color wheel.

This pretty much breaks painting for me.
