I'm having some freezes before load the files on dolphin or in open/sabe dialogs. Starting dolphin from terminal recibed this error message: "Advanced probing on /dev/sr0 failed while reading block size" ejecting the DVD the problem has gone. I think is a dependency of load the Places Panel before the folder view. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.out a bad optical media on drive 2.start dolphin or open/save dialog. 3.
Since this is probably caused by the Places bar and you said it also appears in the Open/Dave dialog, this is not a Dolphin bug but a kdelibs bug.

It depends ;-) The Places Panel does not share much code any more with the dialog. The problem might be that Solid blocks trying to access the DVD. It has been suggested to make those Solid calls asynchronous, maybe that could resolve the problem.
Can you still reproduce the problem in Dolphin in KDE 4.10 or later?
It's fixed in Dolphin 2.2 under KDE SC 4.10.2 in Arch Linux. With a unredeable disc in drive Dolphins does not freeze anymore.
Thanks for the quick reply! It's good to know that it works now. 2013/4/30 Cochise César <cochisecesar@gmail.com>: > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=306426 > > Cochise César <cochisecesar@gmail.com> changed: > > What |Removed |Added > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED > Resolution|--- |FIXED > > --- Comment #4 from Cochise César <cochisecesar@gmail.com> --- > It's fixed in Dolphin 2.2 under KDE SC 4.10.2 in Arch Linux. > With a unredeable disc in drive Dolphins does not freeze anymore. > > -- > You are receiving this mail because: > You are watching the assignee of the bug.
