With Konqueror configured with "Open new tabs in the background" unticked, a middle click on a link opens the new tab with the focus in the location bar. This means the focus must be put on the body of the page manually before using the keyboard to scroll down. I don't know if this is related to the intermittent problem that occurs when new tabs open in the background (the default setting) as detailed in bug 304865. Reproducible: Always Using version 4.8.5 (not present in the list).
