Suppose you have a listing of files and directories in front of you. When you want to search for files in the current listing, you will type your way through, for .e.g. if you want to search for a folder named Alice, then you have to type 'al' get the Alice folder selected.

But this's not working with KDE 4.8.2 in both Dolphin and Konqueror.

This practically makes using KDE a headach... and I cant believe this's in the sable branch.

Oh, sorry about the missing additional information, at first attempt it does work, but then it works again only after ~4 seconds.

After you've changed a directory, then also the timer doesnt reset, and it'll work only after 4 seconds.

Pressing <esc> doesnt work too.

Following this nature, I'm reducing it's priority.

Thanks for the bug report, and sorry for the invoncenience. In KDE 4.8.3, the situation is improved in several ways:

a) Changing the directory will reset the search (this is bug 297488).
b) Pressing Esc will reset the search.
c) The timeout value is decreased from 5 seconds to 1 second.
