Go to System Settings in KDE, setup a global shortcut in khotkeys, for Calculator media key on keyboard to launch the Calculator application on keypress. It will display "Launch(1)" as the recognized key, but the Calculator app won't be launched. Oddly enough, "My computer" media key, which displays as Launch(0) works as expected. Steps to Reproduce:

Actual Results:  
Before I edited those 2 files, nothing happened when I press the Calculator key, event hough I've assigned it as a global shortcut to the Calculator app. After editing those 2 files (from that forum link tutorial), everything worked as expected.

Well, I expected for Calculator app to start, after I press the Calculator media key on my keyboard :)
