Description Eugene Shalygin 2012-02-08 16:08:09 UTC
Version: 2.8 (using KDE 4.8.0)
OS: Linux

Exporting to picasa via kipi plugin (v. 2.5.0) does not work from gwenview but does work from digikam (v. 2.5.0)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
try to export one or more images to picaseweb via kipi-plugin

Actual Results:
plugins says "Failed to upload photo into Picasaweb: Failed to upload photo Do you want to continue?"

Expected Results:
Images are exported

Affects me too. Haven't tried DigiKam, yet, but exporting from GwenView returns uninformative error just like the author has.

Affects me too. I use Ubuntu 12.04 Same error as described
Comment 3 Eugene Shalygin 2012-07-01 14:30:28 UTC
The same with Gwenview 2.9.0/Kipi plugins 2.6.0
Comment 4 walmartshopper 2012-08-07 21:29:34 UTC
Affects me with KDE 4.9.0, Gwenview 2.9.0, kipi-plugins 2.7.0, and libkipi 4.9.0. The export works with Digikam 2.7.0.

I have the same issue with kde 4.9 on Kubuntu 12.04, from my observation, the problem seem to stem from inconsistency in the export menubar for gwenview which actually tries to import images from picasa than try to export / upload my pictures to picasa. When I click on the Export menu, from the dropdown menu.. all I see is "Import from picasa" and when I select that the dialog box that opens then tries to download my pictures from picasa rather than upload a picture to picasa. I have attached a screenshot to better explain this.

The situation with digikam is different since the menu labels are consistent with the action they purport to perform.

It says fixed in 4.9.2, but I'm running 4.9.2 on Arch Linux and still get the error.
Comment 9 Ivan Tonchev 2012-10-09 13:42:25 UTC
Does this mean we are not getting the fix for KDE/4.8 branch?
Comment 10 Alan Prescott 2012-10-10 06:58:20 UTC
Running 4.9.2 in openSUSE 12.1 and error is still present
Comment 11 Jekyll Wu 2012-10-15 11:57:25 UTC
Reopen per comment #8 and #10

I can confirm after the commit above 899f27528db8c32e1bf93e87fb1af3c7b851d4e0 by Aurélien Gâteau fixes the problem - I changed the QString title() to QString name() . Tested with kde 4.8.5 and gwenview 2.8.5 ubuntu 12.04.1

Steps to fix:
Download gwenview-4.8.5.tar.xz from stable
Edit file app/kipiinterface.cpp
cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=`kde4-config --prefix` -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release .
make
make install

Thanks AG

I think this is fixed, at least in Gwenview 4.10.0. Can I close this or is anybody still experiencing errors with this version?
Comment 14 walmartshopper 2013-04-04 20:06:15 UTC
I'm on 4.10.1 and it looks like it's working now.
Comment 15 Benni Hill 2013-04-04 20:07:48 UTC
OK, then let's close it.
