Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.4) OS: Linux Since I've upgrade to KDE 4.7.4 dolphin doesn't show the custom folder icons on all my NFS partition. On a local folder all is OK. On KDE 4.7.3 all is OK. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: Mount a nfs share. Open dolphin and enter to the folder corresponding to the nfs share. Create a folder, and change the custom icon of this folder. Actual Results: The custom icon folder isn't display. Expected Results: The custom icon folder is display. This behaviour appeared on the KDE 4.7.4 release. First I thought to a problem with dolphin itself (see Bug 288824 ) but Peter Penz has noticed me that : nothing has been changed in Dolphin between 4.7.4 + 4.7.3 in this area
I find the commit which made the issue appear : http://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kdelibs.git&a=commit&h=02b7eb5d92daae4373e7d38d2d952a688bd42079 Is it possible to by pass this behavior for a nfs filestem on a local network ?
I can confirm this bug Version: 4.8 (using KDE 4.8.0) Distribution: Kubuntu 12.04 beta1 64bits (also happen on Ubuntu 11.10). Desktop icons isn't showed, if you mount /home trough NFS. To Reproduce: Mount /home trough NFS4 share and login.
KDE 4.8.1 (4:4.8.2-0ubuntu2) on Ubuntu 12.04 I can reproduce this on NFS and NTFS. BTW: The .directory files have icons on NFS shares but not on NTFS mounts. It should be configurable what a user considers to be a slow connection or it should be measured by download speed. IMHO NFS-via-GBIT-LAN and NTFS are fast enough to display folder icons!
should be fixed together with bug 178678 in KDE SC 4.10.2. Reopen if not.
