Description fpaetz 2001-07-16 05:44:36 UTC
(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kdm
Version: KDE 2.2.0 Beta1
Severity: normal
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
Compiler: gcc 2.95 (? I'm not really sure it is the version of SuSE 7.1)
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified

After installing KDE 2.2b1 I am not able to login after the first reboot/start. When the KDM starts up the keyboard doesn't work I cannot login or switch to a console. Only after I have choosed restart X-Server the keyboard works. When I try to type letters before I restart the X-Server strange charachters appears on console 2.

you're missing a "vt7" at the end of the server line in
$KDEDIR/share/config/kdm/Xservers.

I am having the problem described here on SuSE 9.1 and KDE 3.2.1. It began only after recent online updates. Where is $KDEDIR supposed to be? If I try to cd to it, I go nowhere. My system has 4 Xservers files. Bug 45478 seems to be the same as this.
