Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.1) OS: Linux 1. We have a Dolphin Selection/Drag Problem. What is that?? Have Two Dolphin's open with icon view. DO NOT have anything hi-lited or selected. Click and hold on one item and Drag it to the other Dolphin. As you are draging it will select everything you drag over and draw boxes. NO. It is not consistent... -but- happens quite often. 2. Window problem. If you click on a lower Window to bring it in focus at the top, it gets 'stuck' to the cursor and moves with it. It acts like a click and hold, which it was not. NO. This one is not consistent either -but- also happens quite often. These are problems that we were/are experiencing in KDE 4.6 on openSuSE 11.4 -and- they are still present in this new openSuSE 12.1 with KDE 4.7. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open multiple windows. 2. Click on a lower window to bring it in focus. 3. The cursor will grab the window and the window will follow the cursor instead of just getting focus. 1. Open two Dolphins. 2. Do not have anything hi-lited. 3. Click and hold on one (1) item in one of the Dolphins. Try to use one that will cause you to go over other items in order to get to the other Dolphin. 4. Now drag the item to the other Dolphin. 5. It acts like you are trying to use the mouse to hi-lite a number of icons. Actual Results: 1. Gets a move instead of just focus. 2. Acts like a multiple hi-lite operation. Expected Results: 1. Just get focus. 2. Just move one item. Equipment: HP m7480n 3.2Ghz Pentium D nVidia 7300 LE video card Wireless mouse and keyboard openSuSE 11.4 and 12.1
System Settings > Window Behavior > tab Window Actions > Inactive Inner Window > Left Button: Activate & Raise As for the Dolphin issue, I cannot reproduce with current Dolphin master.
Christopher (both of my sons are named Christopher... one was adopted) Anyway, we wanted to point out the nVidia video card that is in our system. To give you another look at this... it could be the problem. Here in the initial phases of openSuSE 12.1 development we are having trouble getting nVidia Native Drivers to work... -and- after trying the nVidia Drivers the nouveau Drivers don't work. So, we are back to the fbdev Driver. When we first installed the Beta-1 version of 12.1 we had a working nouveau. But as mentioned that got broke. My memories are NOT as good as they used to be. To many heart attacks. -But- we do believe that this is not as great an issue with the fbdev Driver as it is with the two that are nVidia specific. Also as usual, nVidia does not necessarily produce a working Driver for our open SuSE UNTIL the final release... which is November, 10th, 2011. You may or may not want to wait till then to see IF this gets straightened out. Meanwhile IF anyone else reports the same problem, (which they did in our SuSE forum), you might want to ask what type of Video Card they have. Just some thoughts......
Okey, now I probably understand. Try this: - run "oxygen-settings" from Konsole - disable the "Windows' drag mode" on the Widget Style / General tab If this does not help, I need further explanation.
Christopher, Sorry for taking so long to reply and to read your response. I will try your suggestion and get back to you on the results. Thanks for your time, Chuck
Well, I have a question. In the settings there is NOT a disable for the drag mode. However, there are various levels of operation. And there is a choice of using the Window Manager to perform the dragging -or- not. I unchecked "Use window manager to perform windows' drag". I left the drag mode as the default which is "Drag windows from all empty areas". IF there are still problems I will try the other modes and report back.
"Disabling" means changing it to NOT read "Drag windows from all empty areas". You do not want window moving by clicking into the window, but only from title bar (or menu bar, too, if you want).
Christopher, I -unchecked- "Use window manager to perform windows' drag" and left everything else as is. This apparently fixed the problem in BOTH 11.4 and 12.1. Thanks for your time, Chuck
Thanks for the update, marking as resolved.
