It seens the problem only occurs when the two Konsole windows are grouped in the task bar

TaskItem holds onto a QWeakPointer internally, and then is constantly handing out new KSharedPtr's on that pointer's data. it's used infrequently and where it is used items should be providing their own smart pointer wrappers on an as-need basis. I'm as happy as a pig in muck right now - we have 4.7.4 in our PPA with Kubuntu, and I can confirm (further to the marked Fix) that this is way more stable. I've literally upgraded within the last hour, and thrown EVERYTHING I can think of at it. I don't know what else you did - but the "program stuck open in panel" and "panel not responding" issues have vanished too, at least here anyway. I've had - 30 applications open at once - every single plasma widget I have, live on my desktop at the same time - and used apper to update and install software while everything else has been running, and it's still working :) Whoever fixed this, thank you :D

Created attachment 67207 [details] New crash information added by DrKonqi plasma-desktop (0.4) on KDE Platform 4.7.3 (4.7.3) using Qt 4.7.4 - What I was doing when the application crashed: The Desktop will crash quite often when more than one window is open, this can happen 4 - 5 times a session over about a 6 or 7 hour session. This happens more frequently when saving a picture with Firefox however Firefox is not the only reason. Apps running were Amarok playing MP3 Podcast, Firefox and Dolphin and I had just closed or was about to close Kid 3 Audio Tagger and saved a jpeg file from firefox. This bug still affects me. I'm running Kubuntu 12.04, with latest KDE 4.8.4 from Kubuntu PPA, and Chromium 18.0.1025.168 from Ubuntu repos. Don't know if it's important or not, I'm running Kubuntu on a Macbook Pro (2009), with nVidia GeForce 9400M. Doesn't matter how I close it (title bar button, menus, keyboard shortcut), but every time I close Chromium window (with more than 1 tab), Plasma crashes and restart, and drkonqui doesn't open (how do I get a backtrace?). This is really annoying, because Plasma restart cause kwin to change open windows sizes.
