Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.2) OS: Linux If you open a playlist file (.m3u) to play in the Media Player widget and the only thing in the playlist is a live stream, the name of the stream should be displayed. At the moment, the widget is a blank black box even though it is playing a live stream. If you play an .mp3 it also displays nothing in the box. It also remains black. If you play a movie .avi, .mov etc. it plays only the audio, not the video, and the black rectangle becomes grey rather than black. I know I have the codec for the video because Dragon Player plays them just fine. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Add widget "Media Player" Click on the open file button. Press play Actual Results: If it's playing audio the display is black and blank. If it's video the display is gray and blank. Expected Results: Display something when playing audio. Track title would be a good basic think to display. But display something. Display the video when playing a video. I am using Kubuntu 10.10 and KDE 4.6.2 This widget is in the plasma-widgets-addons package which is part of the KDE 4.6.2 release. The actual widget is /usr/share/kde4/services/plasma-applet-mediaplayer.desktop The widget version is 0.1
video works, but only with certain phonon backends due to limitations in some of the multimedia frameworks. changing this to a wishlist request to show the name of the audio when playing audio-only media.
Hello! This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding!
