Description Adrien 2011-04-06 09:33:32 UTC
Version: 2.3 (using KDE 4.5.5)
OS: Linux

Hi !
I used koffice 2.3.2 and now 2.3.3 and I encounter the same issue with both.
I can create and manipulate text frames, I can write text. But each time I try
to highlight/select a part of the text (to apply a font, or get it bold), the
text cursor disappears and nothing gets highlit.
If I try to apply some changes to the text I tried to select, it only applies
on the first word of the frame.

This problem is really annoying, and I have no idea where it comes from or if
I am the only one to experience it. Searching the web and the kde bugzilla was
not conclusive at all.

I need some help as this is getting really annoying.
NB : upgrading to kde 4.6.1 from the semi-official repos did not solve the
problem.

This bug was reported on the Debian Bug Tracker:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=621015

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
create a text shape.
enter some text in it.
try to select the text to get it bold.

Actual Results:
The text is not highlighted.

hi! same problem here, but i've done a lot of weird thing:
i've tried to install by source but compiling -after a whole day[damn netbook]-cames out with some errors.
so i move on arch-linux packages..
and there came out that error.
hope it could help

Hi ! I posted the bug on debian bugs tracklist.

At least do we know what causes this behavior of Words/Kword ? Is it system related, or is it an upstream bug ?

Hi, I've looked at bit closer at your report and am not able to reproduce the exact mis-behaviour you are talking about

However I also sometimes see a missing cursor, but never that i can select text. Anyway in the next Calligra release i've now fixed my disappearing cursor, and changed the way selections are drawn, so hopefully you problem will be gone too.

I'm closing the bug here now, and you will be able to see the results in if not the first then the second of the Calligra snapshot we are about to start releasing one month apart until september, where we plan to do a real release of Calligra.
