This bug also happens to me. I was trying to rip my "Concert for George" DVD and k3b crashed with the same backtrace. Before I installed transcode k3b didn't crash. It just complained that it needed transcode. After I installed it, I hit this bug. I'm using Debian unstable, with k3b package version 2.0.2-1+b1 and KDE 4.6.1 from the semi-official KDE repository (http://qt-kde.debian.net/). My transcode package version is 3:1.1.5-0.8.

Created attachment 91852 [details] New crash information added by DrKonqi k3b (2.0.2) on KDE Platform 4.14.2 using Qt 4.8.6 - What I was doing when the application crashed: After initial startup of K3B, I selected DVD-rip from the menu and it crashed. Also crashed after first inserting a video DVD and KDE pop-up asked what to do (I selected rip video with K3B), upon which KDE started up K3b and K3B proceeded to crash. I cannot rip DVD video via K3B. -- Backtrace (Reduced): #5 0x00007f12b65279f0 in KTempDir::name() const () from /usr/lib/libkdecore.so.5 #6 0x0000000000544879 in K3b::VideoDVDRippingPreview::slotTranscodeFinished (this=0x297efb0) at /build/buildd/k3b-2.0.2/src/rip/videodvd/k3bvideodvdrippingpreview.cpp:125 #7 0x0000000000544b09 in K3b::VideoDVDRippingPreview::qt_static_metacall (_o=<optimized out>, _id=<optimized out>, _a=<optimized out>, _c=<optimized out>) at /build/buildd/k3b-2.0.2/obj-x86_64-linux-gnu/src/k3bvideodvdrippingpreview.moc:64 [...] #9 0x00007f12bae620ff in K3bQProcess::finished (this=this@entry=0x3b606a0, _t1=0, _t2=QProcess::CrashExit) at /build/buildd/k3b-2.0.2/obj-x86_64-linux-gnu/libk3b/moc_k3bqprocess.cpp:162 #10 0x00007f12bae654da in K3bQProcessPrivate::_q_notifyProcessDied (this=this@entry=0x23a4350) at /build/buildd/k3b-2.0.2/libk3b/tools/qprocess/k3bqprocess.cpp:762
This issue has already been marked as resolved in version 2.0.3. Since you are using 2.0.2 I would advice you to update your version of k3b.
