Take a already read email. Open the mail view (where you can read the text). Go to Actions -> Email -> Mark Email as. Now 4 buttons show up. The first one is "Als gelesen markieren" (German version of "Mark email read") but the mail already is read. Clicking on this marks the email unread.

When the 4 buttons are visible click on the icon to go back to email list view without using any of the 4 buttons. When in list view the 4 buttons are still visible.
