Description Stéphane Guedon 2010-11-25 09:09:06 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.3)
OS: Linux

Qt : 4.7.1
Plate-forme de développement de KDE : 4.5.3 (KDE 4.5.3)
KWin : 4.5.3 (KDE 4.5.3)

As I move my mouse over plasma dektopbar, a ghost window appear, simply the border of the window !

This window doesn't seems to belong to any software, as it appear as no graphical software is opened (I have looked for it in ksysguard) except kde itself or as other software are opened (like internet browser for example)

When I disable compositing in kde systemsettings, the window border stop to appear. If I relaunch compositing without relaunching session, border doesn't appear too !

I gave a screenshot, and it will be available at ftp://ftp.22decembre.eu/bug-plasma.png for a long time !

Reproducible: Always

it's not available right now... (ftp://ftp.22decembre.eu/ seems entirely empty) consider uploading it at imageshack or whatever.

is there a taskitem in the taskbar (i assume "desktopbar" is supposed to mean a taskbar?!) area you hover when this occurs?
Comment 2 Stéphane Guedon 2010-11-25 14:24:59 UTC
I just check it now, and all is ok to go in my ftp...

The file is also here now for 30 days : http://dl.free.fr/fp8kHK6Tt

you are right concerning the desktop bar. In the screenshot I made, there is no item in the task area, but it occur also when there are some

Could you please upload it to an imagehoster or attach it to the bug report? I
just clicked on the link and didn't know what to do as I do not speak french.
Also a month is rather short as it might take much longer to fix it.

Yes, I use a autohiding panel and 3d effects, but my girlfriend doesn't have a
autohiding panel and no 3d effects, and have this same bug !
Comment 10 Thomas Lübking 2010-12-08 20:37:08 UTC
ok, we got quite some similar issues invoking an autohiding panel.
your girlfriends case however sounds interesting, can you please ensure that she does NOT use (kwin) compositing at all?
