Description Norbert Zawodsky 2001-05-12 09:37:56 UTC
(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: korganizer
Version: 2.0 (KDE 2.0.1)
Severity: wishlist
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release)
OS: Linux 2.4.0 i686 (SuSE)

This is not a specific whish for kOrganizer but a more general one:

What I've been looking for for quite some time is a Project management tool for small and simple projects.
The point is that besides the everyday tasks I've got small projects to do which can be divided into sub-tasks.
Each task can have some date information (like "must be finished on ..." "cannot start earlier than...") or a relation
to another task ("B cannot start before A is finished".....).

Now what I'd like to have is a seperate tool but it should somehow work together with kOrganizer so I can see
what I've got to to next in kOrganizer.

What do you think of this idea?

Regards
Norbert

A project management software (like MrProject), integrated with kroupware would be
really nice.
Comment 2 Cornelius Schumacher 2003-02-21 14:28:07 UTC
You mean "Kontact" not "kroupware".

I guess that project management could also redefine the way how workflow is
represented in KDE.
Specially if you want to keep track of multiple objects, that have been
generated or are worked on for a project - The user would then use different
tools (programs) within this environment and could easily keep track of them.
-Opening a new file would automatically create an entry in the project manager
thus keeping the project up to date.

Comparing this with the "recent documents / recently used programs" - approach
in Windows, this would be a giant leap in productivity.
Comment 4 Cornelius Schumacher 2004-11-07 19:15:10 UTC
There are three main things which would improve KOrganizer's project management capabilities:
- Dependencies between todos
- Import/Export or native resources for other project management formats, e.g. taskjuggler
- A maintainer for the project view.

CVS commit by kainhofe:

Disable KOrganizer's Project View. It has not been maintained for years, and it is completely unusable anyway. If someone decides to write a project view for KOrganizer some time, (s)he'll have to start from scratch anyway.

Reassigning all KOrganizer bug reports and wishes to the newly created
korganizer-devel mailing list.
Comment 8 Christophe Marin 2008-11-16 02:02:25 UTC
The project manager didn't come back in KDE4 (but you may get something close if you use the TODO lists). Closing
