Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.1) OS: Linux (Is not really related to dolphin) Many - especially propretary - software packages offer a .run script/archive as an installer. The most applications need root privileges for installing. The only way to install it with root privileges is via konsole which is not suitable for any end-user. There should be an entry in the “Action”-contextmenu stating “run with root privileges”. Shouldn‘t be that hard putting a .desktop file for that action in there. Reproducible: Always
It seems in Chakra (Arch with preconfigured KDE) a similar feature has been implemented. Too bad it is not in the default installation of KDE :(
