Description Moloko People 2001-05-01 06:26:07 UTC
(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kdesktop
Version: KDE 2.1.0
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: Not Specified
Compiler: gcc 2.96.69
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified

Here's something Windows does better is it possible in KDE:

In windows the "My Computer" no matter how you order your desktop appears first in any list of icons on the desktop.

However in KDE I've added an Icon to my desktop for Konqueror and think it would be nice if there was a user definable system of specifying that some icons disregard the command "Order by Name"

In this way it would be possible to say I want icon X to not be reordered just like the My Computer icon does.

Further more when the icons are displayed on the desktop with a long name they display it across the screen but a better solution would be to only display the first X number of characters and have the name held in a mouse over tooltip (another windowism).
