dolphin (1.5) on KDE Platform 4.5.00 (KDE 4.5.0) using Qt 4.7.0

- What I was doing when the application crashed:
same as above(hovering over a file), but with an .msi, and the error still happens when tooltips are desactivated. Does not matter if I disable the previews, change views(icons, details, columns) or hide the 'Information' panel the crash still occurs. The icon is the blue exclamation mark(The same icon appear in other files and the crash does not happen)

Konqueror crashes as well under the same conditions (tooltips enabled) as I mentioned above.

@Marian25: Thanks for the report. This looks like an issue in the corresponding meta-data analyzer. Would it be possible that you send me such an xls-file per e-mail, where it reliably crashes? I think I can receive up to 20 MB (peter.penz19 (at) gmail (dot) com)?

Unfortunately those files contains sensitive information (work related) so I can't send it to anyone. They use lots of formulas and functions and even Open Office has problem to open it quickly (compared to MS Office at work). It is strange but when I tried to save it in OO to XLS then the saved file didn't caused any crash. So it only happens when those files are saved by MS Office. It looks like it is related only to XLS files with lots of formulas.

I would send more useful bug report but don't know what debuggers should I install from the repository (PCLinuxOS).

No problem, I'll try to reproduce this issue with a custom, huge xls file.

Strange, but I've just discovered one file which is a simple ascii txt file and Dolphin and Konqueror crashes the same way I mention regarding those xls files.
I can send this file to you if it helps.

I tried open DOC file (size 19,1MB). If I have enable thumbnail, then after mouse over on icon Dolphin crashed. Same do if I try view properties of file.

On http://novinarka.hermesmedia.cz/data/strednicechy/dvorak_multifunkcninovinar.doc is file when Dolphin crashed. Contain text and 8 images and set as read only.

I tried to fix this issue myself, but I'm not familiar enough with the OLE-format. I've created a Strigi bug-report at https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3113555&group_id=171000&atid=856302

KFileMetaDataProvider: Don't crash if a Strigi analyzer crashes

Some Strigi analyzers are still unstable and crash under certain circumstances. This patch moves the reading of the meta-data into a custom process instead of doing it in a thread, which assures that a crashing Strigi analyzer does not result in crashing Dolphin or Konqueror when hovering some items.
