This bug is fully reproducible on three different machines I tested recently. For me the only factor for text doubling is font smoothing: label's text is always doubled with font smoothing turned OFF and always looks fine with font smoothing turned ON.
I have reproduced this bug in KDE 4.5.84 (KDE 4.6 beta2)
This bug is present in KDE 4.6.0 How to reproduce this bug 1. Run systemsettings 2. Select "Appearance Applications" then "Fonts" 3. Enable anti-aliasing (put option "Use anti-aliasing" is set to "Enabled") 4. Set the DPI to 96 pixels 5. Additionally, click next to "Use dithering" click "customize" 6. In the resulting window select "Eliminating the range of 8.0 to 15.0 n" and then select "Use a line-smoothing RGB" and click apply 7 Restart the Dolphin
Works for me in KDE Frameworks 5.47.
