(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kghostview
Version: unbekannt (using KDE 2.1.1 )
Severity: normal
Installed from: Debian Package 4:2.1.1-0.potato4 (2.2)
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.2 20000220 (Debian GNU/Linux)
OS: Linux 2.4.3 i686
OS/Compiler notes:

Almost all pdf files I tried will
not be displayed by kghostview
Adobes Acrobat Reader works fine. There are _no_
error or warning messages. The pages
in KGhostview are blank or sometimes display an ugly rendering
of an embedded image.

Guten Morgen.

You can display many PDFs by installing the gsfonts
package (Why wasn't it installed automagically?).

On my Debian Potato system:

        apt-get install gsfonts

Well a warning ("missing fonts" or something like
that) would have been nice. It surely beats an empty
page...

Cheers
Nils

gs-aladdin says "Recommends: gsfonts (>= 4.01-3)" on my system (Debian
Woody). I guess it's already fixed then.

Ok I'll keep the bug open. It would indeed be better to warn the user
that the necessary fonts are not available.

Greetings

This is a pdf that won't open

Something very similar now happens with Mandrake 9.0 (kdegraphics-3.0.3-11mdk.)
However I can't seem to find any package named gsfonts or similar, so I can't
tell if that is the problem. However all of it's dependencies are satisfied and
both gv and xpdf can display it.

Another Interesting note is that preview in konqueror works.

So in any event I have attached a test case of a pdf that it cannot open.

compare with bug 53871. It might be a similiar underlying solution.

collapsing warn-if-gs-fails bugs into one.
