(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: dcopserver Version: unknown (using KDE 2.1.1 ) Severity: normal Installed from: Debian Package 4:2.1.1-2 (testing/unstable) Compiler: gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (Debian release) OS: Linux 2.4.3-pre3 i686 OS/Compiler notes: Hello There I receive the following error when running a kde application in a window manager other than kde. I have been getting this error for some time now. Sorry I waited until now to report it. The error is in the the subjet line but I'll repeat it here in the body of my message... ERROR: KUniqueApplication: Trying to launch kdeinit. _IceTransmkdir: Owner of /tmp/.ICE-unix should be set to root I believe that if I set the owner of that directory to root then I get an error when trying to run Kmail(or at least in trying to retrieve my mail) to the effect of 'could not talk to klauncher'. Hope this helps in some way. Thank You Jimmy Richards (Submitted via bugs.kde.org) (Called from KBugReport dialog)
Make sure to do chown root /tmp/.ICE-unix chmod 1777 /tmp/.ICE-unix Not a bug installation problem.
