(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: khtml Version: KDE 2.1.1 Severity: normal Installed from: Mandrake RPMs Compiler: gcc 2.95.3 (prerelease from mandrake) OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: kernel 2.4.2 (but I think same trouble on 2.2.17) This is an intriging bug. There is something seriously wrong with rendering a page containing a couple of animated gifs (try carolina.mailmij.org). When using mozilla the User load (according to ksysguard) after the loading is about 10 % when viewing the page with konqueror the load is over 90%!!! System load is extreme as well. It appears that the maximum possible processor time is used just to draw the gifs! BTW I discovered this bug when using Quanta after a while my mortherboard would start beeping and lm_sensors told me my processor heat was over 57 degrees C. Guess I should buy a new fan but it illustrates the kind of load khtml generates. In quanta this becomes especially noticable because once you preview the page and go back editing the CPU load does not drop (so khtml prolly stays active somewhere). I do not know whether this is a bug in Quanta but maybe any of you knows. Silly bug will completly slow down a system when viewing pages with _many_ animated gifs. Good luck with KDE 2.2 (damn takes a long time if possible send me a patch for 2.1.1;-) Danny (Submitted via bugs.kde.org)
