Version: unknown (using 4.4.2 (KDE 4.4.2) "release 231", KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.2) Compiler: gcc OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.31.12-0.2-desktop KRunner (Alt+F2) needs about 30 seconds more time to start an application than starting from the K menu. ---In 4.4.1--- Eg. when I type "kmymoney" to KRunner and hit enter, the jumping hour glass with the application icon appears for 20-30 seconds and just after starts KMyMoney. ---In 4.4.2--- When I type "kmymoney" to KRunner and hit enter, nothing happens for 10-20 seconds. But when I start it from the textbox of K menu, the hour glass doesn't even appear (or for just a second) and KMyMoney is starting with its splash screen. krunner -v: Qt: 4.6.2 KDE Development Platform: 4.4.2 (KDE 4.4.2) "release 231" Parancsindító felület: 0.1
Same problem happening under FreeBSD 8.0/amd64 and fedora 11/x86_64, krunner became very unresponsive for launching applications. Very troublesome :s
I can confirm this bug on my Debian unstable laptop. Since the upgrade to kde 4.4.3, krunner has been very slow starting an application. Besides being slow reacting, krunner crashes quite often, even if the application gets started successfully after waiting for 20-30 seconds.
It seems it's been fixed in KDE 4.5 beta.
Could you please backport the fix to Debian-Squeeze? Else I would have to live with that annoying bug for some years ...
