(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: kde Version: KDE 2.1.0 Severity: wishlist Installed from: SuSE Compiler: gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release) OS: Linux 2.2.16 i686 OS/Compiler notes: It would be cool to have extensible context menus for selected text. I would like to be able to right click on a text in khtml and any kde widget containing text and then get the possibilty to 1) search for that word in google 2) translate it with dict.leo.org 3) ... As anyone has his own opinion it would be great to make this configurable. This feature should be combined with "Extended Web Browsing" in Konqueror where I already added my translation sites. Actually it would be better the other way around: Integration of "Extended Web Browsing" in a kde-wide feature to "execute" a string. Not only websites could be opened using the selection but also normal kde programs which get the selected text thru a param (/opt/kde2/bin/ktranslate "<selText>"). This could also integrate the Klipper "actions" feature. I am very interested in the opinions of the kde developers about such a feature (framework). In the CVS HEAD version of KDE you can lookup selected text in your default search engine. It only needs someone to extent this to more entries and make it configurable. :-)
