Description Mike 2009-11-30 21:01:27 UTC
Version: 2.2.0 (using 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1), Gentoo)
Compiler: i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.30-gentoo-r8

Amarok starts as normal. I start playing a song, it works, but after completion of that first song, the player won't play another. Manually trying to play a song at this point also fails to stat audio playback. The song is enqueed in the playlist, but no progress is made by the player; The time line cursor remains fixed at 0 seconds, as if paused, but the state of the controls shows that the player is not paused.

Restarting amarok allows me to play a song again, but identically, after that one song completes, no more music will play.

Amarok is not frozen, I can modify my play list and access menu items, but whenever you actually try to play a song (after the first), it will not start to play.

Are you using the gstreamer packend ? The you are hit by bug 172372. You should use the xine backend instead.
Comment 2 Mike 2009-11-30 22:40:06 UTC
Fixed by switching the back end from xine to gstreamer.

GOTO: settings -> configure amarok -> Playback -> sound system configuration -> configure -> backend -> prefer xine.

Thanks Myriam.
