After wake-up from sleep-to-ram mode, the plasma shadow effect looks wrong. Here you have an screenshot: http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/5845/snapshot1vv.png
Each time I have to turn shadows off and turn it on again to correct it.

looks like a driver bug. What's your graphics card and driver?

This is a NVIDIA card (nVidia FX380M) with privative official drivers (gentoo package version 190.42-r3)

A simple workaround in case somebody else is looking for a temporary solution:

create this script:

#!/bin/bash
qdbus org.kde.kwin /KWin org.kde.KWin.unloadEffect kwin4_effect_shadow
qdbus org.kde.kwin /KWin org.kde.KWin.loadEffect kwin4_effect_shadow

then associate a short-cut combination for it, so each time you came back from sleep-to-ram, you can fix it by hand.

Remove Shadow Effect.

The shadow effect is known to be broken since at least 4.5.
It is unfortunately in a state which makes it difficult to maintain
and the architecture has some serious drawbacks. Therefore it is the
best solution to replace the effect with a new and better
implementation. For more information about the new implementation
please see the discussion on KWin mailinglist:

This also "fixes" all existing bug reports about the shadow effect.
Most of the bugs will really be fixed when the new shadow system is
implemented, if not it is a new bug and a new report should be created
for it.

Please excuse that we go this unnormal approach to mark bugs as
fixed with code removal.
