Description Tenno Seremel 2009-11-15 20:24:13 UTC
Version: 1.0.0~beta4-2 (using KDE 4.3.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

I think digiKam should have an option to ignore IPTC for both reading and writing. It can store only ASCII text anyway.

I join to this wish-request. This my "use case" for ignoring IPTC:

After every time you write caption or add tag in non-english language (XMP support this), Digikam write it also to IPTC.

But since IPTC don't support unicode, all you get is ???????? instead of caption/tag.

So i have to do additional step after each caption/tag change - delete IPTC. It's really annoying.

IMHO, adding option to ignore IPTC is really useful for every non-english speaking user of Digikam.
