Description anton 2009-06-07 13:32:02 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

I use krusader for file management most of the time and open dolphin rather rarely, but I really love device notifier applet.

Currently, when I plugin a flash card, I click on it in the device notifier - dolphin opens, then close dolphin and go to the catalog in krusader.

It would be more convenient to be able to skip "dolphin opens/close dolphin" part, but still being able to mount device from the device notifier plasmoid.

The solution might be rather simple and would perfectly fit to current plasmoid design - when the device is not mounted, on mouse hover device row would show a small icon (possible '+') on the right - just like "eject" icon when device is already mounted. Clicking on this icon would mount device without opening the dolphin.

It would be nice to make device notifier be more configurable. I like the old (KDE 3) behavior with automatic mounting USB Sticks more.

I suggest to add configuration whether devices should be mounted automatically or should not. As an progress of this idea - device notifier can be configurable to automatically mount listed device types or devices.

For example, I may want to mount automatically CDs and USB sticks, but not DVDs.

Example 2: I want to automatically mount USB stick with volume label 'Pavel EXT2 volume' and not the device with label 'Kate's FAT disk'. Another device identifiers can be used instead of the volume label.

done in 4.4. there will also be an "Automount" kcm module in systemsettings to configure automounting.
