Installed from:    Fedora RPMs

emacs only uses ~130M of ram when opening the same file.  Due to kate using so much ram, my 2G system goes into swap hell and becomes almost completely unresponsive.  The file is just a large strace recording.  The memory usage numbers came from krunner's system activity screen.
