Description Steven P. Ulrick 2009-05-12 11:34:59 UTC
Application that crashed: konqueror
Version of the application: 4.2.85 (KDE 4.2.85 (KDE 4.3 Beta1))
KDE Version: 4.2.85 (KDE 4.2.85 (KDE 4.3 Beta1))
Qt Version: 4.5.0
Operating System: Linux 2.6.27.21-170.2.56.fc10.x86_64 x86_64

What I was doing when the application crashed:
There's not much to say. The steps to reproduce are something like this:
1. Attempt to open Konqueror.
2. Immediate crash.

It may be included with the crash information that is attatched to this report, but here is the output if I try to open Konqueror from a terminal:
[steve@localhost ~]$ konqueror
konqueror(4924) KonqViewManager::setCurrentProfile: "webbrowsing" localPath= "/home/steve/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/profiles/webbrowsing"
!!!!!!! ERROR !!!!!!! - KHTML default stylesheet version mismatch. Aborting. Check your installation. File used was: /usr/share/apps/khtml/css/html4.css. Expected STYLE_VERSION 1

KCrash: Application 'konqueror' crashing...
sock_file=/home/steve/.kde/socket-localhost.localdomain/kdeinit4__0

If you need any more information(?), let me know.

Comment 1 Steven P. Ulrick 2009-05-12 11:47:32 UTC
I tried the following:
I moved .kde/share/apps/konq* and .kde/share/config/konq* out of the way and attempted to restart konqueror. The result was still an immediate crash.

I then successfully opened Konqueror using this command:
kfmclient openProfile filemanagement

BUT, as soon as I tried to put the address of any website in the address bar, the result is an immediate crash.

OS: Fedora 10 (fully updated)
KDE version: KDE that ships with Fedora 10

@rdieter: this means an old html4.css is getting picked up.
Comment 4 Steven P. Ulrick 2009-05-12 22:32:51 UTC
Based on Comment #3, I moved "/usr/share/apps/khtml/css/html4.css" out of the way and attempted to start Konqueror. The result is that it now works. No more crash... This is great, but it forces a few questions (since this is a VERY recent fresh install of Fedora 10):
If the mere presence of "/usr/share/apps/khtml/css/html4.css" was causing Konqueror to crash, when did it appear on my system, and how did it get there? The other question that arises is, if it has been here for the entire few days that I have had this new computer/fresh install of Fedora 10, when did this file begin to be a problem, and why did it happen?

Anyway, at least I can now use Konqueror as a web browser if I want to.
Comment 5 Maksim Orlovich 2009-05-12 22:41:34 UTC
rpm -q --whatprovides /usr/share/apps/khtml/css/html4.css may give some clues... I don't know anything about Fedora's setup of things, though.
