Version: (using KDE 4.2.2) OS: Linux Installed from: SuSE RPMs when i use the tab key to switch between several filled input fields in a web form, the content in the field that i'm tabbing into does not get selected, i have to press ctrl-a to select it all before i can overwrite or erase.
Basically I can confirm that issue, but I'm not sure if we can consider this a bug. If you click into a pre filled textbox the text isn't selected either, so there is no difference in behaviour.
This is different than normal behaviour, eg. in dialog boxes and basically anywhere else textboxes are used; and also different than any other browser out there (w3m notwithstanding), it's contrary to what users expect and what makes sense, especially for a mouseless user (such as the one likely to tab into a field). Confirmed.
Doesn't have to be a "mouseless user"... when you do large amounts of data input through the same webform over and over you usually have the "layout" of the form in your muscle memory after a while. That, together with konqueror's "link shortcuts" (pressing ctrl followed by a letter to activate a link) makes things much faster... unless you have to hit ctrl-a in every field to be able to overwrite the content :/
Thank you for the bug report. As this report hasn't seen any changes in 10 years or more, we ask if you can please confirm that the issue still persists. If this bug is no longer persisting or relevant please change the status to resolved.
