Description Alan Jenkins 2009-05-01 15:48:28 UTC
Version:            (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages

I was also able to reproduce this with "mv .kde kde4-backup".

On the first login, the folder view widget on the desktop doesn't draw any background (only the icons and title text). As soon as you click on it, or invoke any other action, it draws the background in.

Because it fixes itself as soon as you do anything, I couldn't get a screenshot :-).

Note - while the folderview is loading, I see a nice, um, "ring of bubbles" loading effect where the file icons go. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Can you reproduce this on every login ? What Plasma theme are you using ?
Thanks

No, this only happened on an initial login, i.e. when ~/.kde is empty.

> What Plasma theme are you using ?

I'm using whatever the Kubuntu default theme is :-). You can see a screenshot of the full screen using this theme here: <http://bugsfiles.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=33185>.

Alen: to get a screenshot, try stopping and starting plasma while you are in you kde session. before starting it again, start a ksnapshot full screen grab on a timer (say, 10s or so to give you plenty of time).

so:

* kquitapp plasma
* start the timer in ksnapshot
* plasma
* ... wait
* glory! :)

Teh glory shall be mine! Ahem.

As I said, this only happens on first login, so I had to destroy my settings before starting plasma (as you can see from the Konsole history). Apart from that, it worked just like you said. Here's the screenshot.
