It would be great if I could create bookmarks from the "table of contents" view of a PDF. That would allow Okular to use the text of the toc item (instead of #55 for page 55).

I second that motion.  It would be great if Okular offered a way to create/edit the contents/bookmarks/ToC of any given PDF document, similar to how Foxit PDF reader does it.
