Description BatchDrake 2009-04-09 15:47:56 UTC
Version: 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2) (using 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2), Debian packages)
Compiler:          cc
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.28.1

The problem always happens with the same sequence:

1. I select some text in KWrite, and leave it selected.
2. Change to another Window, making KWrite lose its focus, but with the text remaining selected.
3. Focus again the KWrite window, and now, the selected text is gone.

I did these three steps with a few more instances of KWrite and Kate and the results were the same, so I think it's KatePart issue.

Does this also happens in another KDE applications where you can write and select some text? Do you use SCIM ?
Thanks

I have just tried it with konqueror address bar and yes, the results are the same.

And yes again, I'm using SCIM with this environment (something might be misconfigured):

XIM_PROGRAM=scim -d
QT_IM_MODULE=scim-bridge
XMODIFIERS=@im=SCIM
GTK_IM_MODULE=scim

Thanks for answering, btw.

Ok, so this is a Qt-SCIM bug: bug 188533
OpenSUSE is applying some patch to fix the issue. May be you can ask the Debian developers to include it too.
Thanks
