Do they only look the same in KDE Apps? Try opening let's say gimp and use= =20 the fonts. If they look the same there too it's a problem with your=20 X-Server's font configuration. > > > > (submitted via bugs.kde.org) > > >> Visit http://master.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-devel#unsub to > >> unsubscribe << --=20 --- http://www.richardstevens.de Unix IS user friendly it is just selective about who his friends are.

Could you tell me which fonts you have installed from the output of xlsfonts ? Thanks. Rik
I have tried changing fonts in non-KDE apps and it did work fine. For instance netscape 4.7 will let me change the font and it displays ok. As well konsole will after a while start displaying glitches in the form of vertical lines that don't get erased by scrolling.

Interesting. Sounds like a dodgy driver for your videocard. Not that that should be related to which fonts KDE can see. Rik
I have the very same problem (except I did not experience glitches or other graphic bugs). All the fonts installed are rendered as Helvetica by KDE (only). BTW my ~/.kde/share/fonts{/override} contains fonts.dir files with only the character `0' (!?). I tried investigating my startkde but was confused as I don't understand the purpose of those extra fonts.dir. I am using KDE 2.1 beta 2 (20010128) from Debian/unstable (Sid).
This problem is due to a misconfigured X server.
Maybe you can tell what way it is misconfigured? I had XFree86 4.2.1 + Qt3.1.2 + KDE3.1 working fine with fonts, but after I installed XFree86 4.3.0 which introduces new Xft library, the situation fell to worst. I thought, it's just Qt/Xft interaction problem and rebuilt Qt, but now all fonts except some are look the same. And I still cannot figure out the reason this may happen.
