Compiler:          gentoo gcc 4.3.3-r1 p1.1 
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Gentoo Packages

no special description as i was not doing anything special, reading some txt file in Kate.
Started applications were : 
eclipse, kate, mozilla-firefox, mozilla-thunderbird, Dolphin.

Sorry i can't give more details.

yes you're right. 

Sorry i had forgotten there was a background emerge task in a Konsole, but i don't remember if it was emerging a specific package or just synchronizing the portage tree.
