This is bug 185741, already fixed for KDE4.2.2/4.3
As a workaround you have to edit your "~/.kde4/share/config/plasma*" files to remove the Geometry setting. You can also remove that files to reset your Plasma configuration. (look at bug 185741 comment 3)
Note that some distributions are planning on backporting this fix to their stable KDE 4.2.1 packages.
