This is related/duplicate of bug 178076
If you can reproduce the crash at will, may you read http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports and post a complete backtrace here?
You need to install the "kdebase4-workspace-debuginfo" package

reassigning to plasma (or do I miss the point? - otoh, closing kde4 version of kaffeine while it's still recording likely causes a crash, but that shouldn't confuse plasma)
