Description Ed 2009-02-18 19:21:01 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Application: Ark (ark), signal SIGSEGV

Thread 1 (Thread 0xb61938d0 (LWP 6314)):
[KCrash Handler]
#6 0x080532b3 in _start ()

I received this twice. It seems to occur after trying to unzip a .zip file, which crashes Dolphin so I had to do it in Konqueror, and rebooting or starting the computer. Even after a complete shut down and starting the next day.
Comment 1 Ed 2009-02-18 19:24:58 UTC
This happens on Kubuntu 8.10 KDE 4.2. on Dell Inspiron E1505 nvivia go7300, 2 gig mem, intel Centrino duo 1.8ghz.
Comment 2 Dario Andres 2009-02-18 20:52:09 UTC
Did you closed a blank Ark window that appeared on KDE logout before to get that crash?
Thanks
Comment 3 Ed 2009-02-19 08:11:16 UTC
There was no blank Ark window. Ark kept crashing everytime I try to unzip a .zip file. I did not get a blank window at any time until I restarted my computer then 2 blank windows showed up and the crash handler came up with the above error. Thank you.

I have the same problem.
Ark crashes at sturtup of the system every time that, before I restart the computer, I have used it to unzip a .zip file . If I use Ark twice I have two blank windows, if I use once I have 1 blank window etc
My system is kubuntu 8.10 kde 4.2
Comment 5 Dario Andres 2009-02-19 11:54:27 UTC
@Ed: Then you have two different bug:
1) Crash on extract zip files
2) Ghost Ark windows appearing on reboot, that crashes when you close them (this is an already reported and fixed bug, look at bug 175637 )
@Alesio: your crash is also bug 175637

Let's focus this report in the crash at extracting zip files:

Can you reproduce it with every zip file?
As you can reproduce the crash at will, may you read http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports and post a complete backtrace here?
You may need to install the "kdeutils-dbg" package.
Thanks :)

Sorry but I have only one bug, the second:
"host Ark windows appearing on reboot, that crashes when you close them".
