Description Samuel Suther 2009-02-12 12:34:31 UTC
Version: 1.10.3 (using 4.1.3 (KDE 4.1.3) "release 70.4", KDE:KDE4:STABLE:Desktop / openSUSE_11.0)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.25.20-0.1-pae

I wish Kmail has an archive-function. Should work such way describe here:

1) Important mails can be marked as "no archiv", or as "archiv, but no delete)
2) If the archive-Funktion start, the archiver save all mails older than xy - Days to a Backup-directory.
Mails marked as "no archiv" would not saved, and Mails marked as archiv, but not delete" would be archived, but still leave in the Mailfolder.
3) So if Backup works, there should be a step which delete all Mails are older than xy Days (setting in Point 2)
4) Best feature would be, if the archive - which is burn on cd - can be insert into existing Maildir (only readable) - such like a funktion in digikam >> Config >> Collections Settings

This would Kmail boost onto the top of all Mail-Applications... cause no other Mail-App has such a great archiv-tool

What you think about it?

I think this is a good idea. It is more or less like the akregator archive, but also with the ability to save it to another place and read it from there.
