Installed from:    Debian stable Packages

 I installed the Opera web browser and I can launch it from within a terminal but I set it up in the KDE start menu, and when I click on it, it shows a timer for several seconds, then quits, with no message.

you could have setted it wrongly on the menu editor. How did you configure it?
