Description Mikolaj Machowski 2009-02-09 22:44:13 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
Compiler: gcc4.3.2
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled sources

I would like to be able to search photos geographically but by "text interface". It means not by dragging rectangle in left Map Searches tab but by inserting somewhere "Warsaw, 10km radius".

"Text interface" could be located both in main advanced search window and in Map Searches tab.

The "Map search" already has bretty much stuff on it. The map itself is "bretty small" while the saved items -box takes needed space. So to get there new tab, is bretty dificult.

And currently the map search is using marble, what does not have all place names.

OK, maybe integrating into 'Map search' tab isn't great idea. But adding geolocation to main searches would be nice: Find all photos by me made in 50 km radius of Paris.

At the moment there is no possibility to connect geographical search with more traditional one. There is one wish somewhere which could make it possible (aka "Search in current view") but more direct feature would be welcome.

About number of names - better some than nothing.

There is no technical problem with integrating geographical search into the advanced search dialog. It's just a matter of adding appropriate UI.
We can as well add the radius search you describe, similar to the current "Find similar" quick search.
