Description Stephan Sokolow 2009-02-07 09:02:26 UTC
Version: unknown (using 4.2.00 (KDE 4.2.0), Gentoo)
Compiler: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.25-gentoo-r7-20080501

I often find myself using Yakuake to launch GUI apps just because KRunner doesn't allow me to type something like this:

mplayer ~/in<Tab>/Vid<Tab>/MS<Tab><Enter>

(Resulting in "mplayer ~/incoming/Videos/MST3K_-_Toobular_Boobular.flv")

What I propose is that if there's exactly one result and it's for the Command Line plugin, then the normal tab behaviour should be replaced with a simple tab completion function which completes valid paths and file:// URLs. (Naturally, support should be included for resolving ~ and ~username)

Of course, if you'd prefer not to default to having an exception to the normal Tab key behaviour, I'd have no problem with the feature being optional, off by default, and controlled by a checkbox in the Command Line plugin preferences.

This report is a feature request, so I marked it as wishlist item.

Anyways, tab completion for KRunner is a must have :)

Oops. Sorry about that. I was in a bit of a rush when I filed this and I guess I forgot to change the report type from the default.
