Description Arthur Marsh 2009-02-06 11:09:07 UTC
Version: 0.5.9 (using KDE 3.5.10)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

When I opened an encrypted pdf such as at http://www.acma.gov.au/webwr/_assets/main/lib310648/ecs_disc_paper.pdf I could not copy text from it, and the copy dialogue gave no clue as to why I couldn't copy text. The file properties gave "Security: Encrypted" but no clue that I might need to disable the "configure kpdf" Main option "Obey DRM Limitations" in order to copy text. Additionally, the question-mark tool-tip help does not work in the "configure kpdf" section, and the help text does not use the words "security", "encrypted" or "encryption" in explaining what the "Obey DRM Limitations" option does. Also, I do not know how to disable the option for every time that I run kpdf from my account.

Better text suggestions welcome.

The option remains at the last value you used, so just uncheck it once and it will be forever be unchecked.

The questionmark tooltip does not work in the file/properties menu either.

Working tooltips would help, also is there any way to provide more information when the select action is activated that copying of text might be restricted by "Obey DRM Limitations"?

Thank you for your bug report or feature suggestion.

The "KPDF" application is no longer maintained, and all tickets are now closed.

We recommend to switch to the "Okular" application.

Due to the high number of bugs/suggestions in "KPDF" we are not able to go through all of them and verify if they are still valid in "Okular".

That's why are we asking you to help us by checking if your bug/suggestion is still valid in Okular and if it still is opening a new bug/suggestion against it.

Thank you for your effort in making KDE better :)
